WELCOME TO CARMICHAEL
A distinctly Christian school with a seamless education from Prep to Year 12
Welcome to Carmichael College. Our school was named after Amy Carmichael, a missionary from Northern Ireland, whose life was spent working with and for children, many of whom were orphans, in India. Having been brought up in the UK, with a Northern Irish wife and having spent some time working in India, I have a very personal connection to the foundation and the purpose of our school and much of what Amy Carmichael must have seen and been through during her life.
As a result, I share her passion for seeing young people given the opportunities in life not only to be the very best they can be, but also to have a positive effect on everyone in their community. The verses from Philippians 2: 3-4 demonstrate this perfectly and outline an expectation I share with staff, students, and families with whom I work: ‘Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others’.
In a world where personal gain and self-promotion are often seen as the ultimate aim in life, I would invite you to read more of a community which puts others at its centre. We strive as a school to train and equip our young people in their faith, life and ambitions to go out into the world to positively impact wherever they may be.

OUR INSPIRATION
Miss Amy Carmichael
(1867 – 1951)
Miss Amy Carmichael was born in Millisle, Northern Ireland, where she initially worked with the poor mill-working women. Amy wanted to dedicate her life to serving God by sharing the Good News about the Lord Jesus Christ. First she worked in a mission in Japan, but in the mid 1890s, she begun her work at Dohnavur in southern India. In 1901 she opened an orphanage to care for girls rescued from temple slavery. The Indian Government made this practice illegal in 1948. She remained there for 56 years never returning home again. The Dohnavur Fellowship continues today, now supporting approximately 500 people on 400 acres with 16 nurseries and a hospital.
OUR VISION
To enrich minds through excellent education, transform hearts for Christ, and serve in our Community.
This is articulated through our three Vision Statements:
OUR MISSION
Educating our students for life in the world and eternity.
OUR CORE VALUES
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Micah 6:8 (NIV)
OUR FUTURE
Carmichael College’s establishment began in 2002 with the land being purchased. With great vision and rigorous planning we opened in 2015 as a primary campus, and then as a secondary campus in 2020 with our very first intake of year seven. We are committed to seeing this cohort through to completion, expanding each year to offer Year 12 by the College in 2025.
We are a dynamic school in its infancy in growth. Our Masterplan outlines a strategic and logical construction of new buildings and facilities as the population increases, ensuring we continue to implement an environment where students can excel.
